Service Cost Types

You can define service cost types (for example, Pay Per Use, Subscription, or No Charge Back) which Analysts can assign to Service Action and Service Bundle entities. The Cost Type appears in the Catalog Information section of the service entities.

Creating a Service Cost Type

Before you start

You must have CMDB Setup enabled within your General Access security role in order to configure any CMDB administration settings. Depending on if or how your system is partitioned, ensure that you are working in the correct partition.

  1. Select the Menu button , then Admin, and then select System Administration. The System Administration window is displayed . In the Explorer pane, locate the CMDB group , scrolling up or down if necessary. You may need to expand the group to see the options within it.

  2. Select Service Cost Types to open the window. A browse table is displayed, listing all of the existing service cost types.
  1. Select . A new row is added to the browse table.
  2. In the blank row, type the name of the new Service Cost Type.
  3. Repeat for each Service Cost Type you want to create.
  4. Select to save the changes. Provide the Change Reasons if prompted to do so.

You can change the display order of the service cost types in the table. To do so, select a status and use or to change its position in the table.

Renaming a Service Cost Type

  1. Select the Menu button , then Admin, and then select System Administration. The System Administration window is displayed . In the Explorer pane, locate the CMDB group , scrolling up or down if necessary. You may need to expand the group to see the options within it.

  2. Select Service Cost Types to open the window. A browse table is displayed, listing all of the existing service cost types.
  1. Select the Service Cost Type entry you want to rename.
  2. Overwrite with the new name you want to assign for the selected Service Cost Type.
  3. Select to save the changes. Provide the Change Reasons if prompted to do so.

Deleting a Service Cost Type

Before you start

You must have CMDB Setup enabled within your General Access security role in order to configure any CMDB administration settings. Depending on if or how your system is partitioned, ensure that you are working in the correct partition.

You cannot reverse this procedure. If you delete a Service Cost Type by mistake, you have to re-create the entry by creating a new Service Cost Type. Existing entities linked to the deleted Cost Type will remain linked to it unless an active Cost Type is selected. Deleted Cost Types are displayed with an asterisk beside the name.

  1. Select the Menu button , then Admin, and then select System Administration. The System Administration window is displayed . In the Explorer pane, locate the CMDB group , scrolling up or down if necessary. You may need to expand the group to see the options within it.

  2. Select Service Cost Types to open the window. A browse table is displayed, listing all of the existing service cost types.
  1. Select the Service Cost Type entry you want to delete.
  2. Select . If you attempt to delete the system default, you will receive a warning message.
  3. Select to save the changes. Provide the Change Reasons if prompted to do so.
