Public Holidays Definition

You can create a set of public holidays for your organization and choose public holidays for each month in that set.

Setting a Date as a Public Holiday

Before you start

You must have System Set Up selected in the Admin tab of your General Access security role.

  1. Select the Menu button , then Admin, and then select System Administration. The System Administration window is displayed . In the Explorer pane, locate the System group , scrolling up or down if necessary. You may need to expand the group to see the options within it.

  2. Select the Public Holidays Definition option.
  3. The Public Holidays Definition window appears, with a list of existing public holiday calendars at the top of the window, and lower down the window, a control displaying two months – this month and next - of the currently selected calendar. You can move between months using the left and right arrow buttons at the top edges of the months. The currently selected date is highlighted.
  4. Select .  A blank row is inserted in the browse table.
  5. Key in a name for the set of dates you want to define as public holidays (such as Public Holidays New Zealand).
  6. Double-click on a date to designate it as a public holiday. The date will display in bold typeface to reflect this change.
  7. To turn a public holiday back into a normal day, double-click on it. The date will display in normal typeface again.
  8. Repeat for each date that you want to set as a public holiday.
  9. Select to save the changes. Provide the Change Reasons if prompted to do so.The window refreshes and the first set in the browse table is displayed. Select your new set if necessary to review it.

Copying a Set of Public Holidays

You may find that you want to use an existing set of public holidays as a basis for another set, and rather than creating it again from scratch, you can copy sets of public holidays to create new ones, or update existing sets.

Before you start

  2. Select the Public Holidays Definition option.
  3. The Public Holidays Definition window appears, with a list of existing public holiday calendars at the top of the window, and lower down the window, a control displaying two months – this month and next - of the currently selected calendar. You can move between months using the left and right arrow buttons at the top edges of the months. The currently selected date is highlighted.
  4. Select the set of public holidays you want to copy to display it in the grid.
  5. Select .
  6. Select the set of public holidays into which you want to paste the copied holidays, or select and key in the name of the new set of holidays.
  7. Select to paste the holidays. You can now modify them if you wish.
  8. Select to save the changes. Provide the Change Reasons if prompted to do so.

Deleting a Set of Public Holidays

You may find that you have duplicated a set of public holidays, or that a set is no longer used, and you can delete all sets of public holidays except the system defined Default.

  4. Select the set of public holidays you want to delete.
  5. Select . The set is deleted from the window, but you still need to save to confirm the deletion.
  6. Select to save the changes. Provide the Change Reasons if prompted to do so.
